So how’s everybody’s week been? We’ve all been crazy busy in the Evolve Systems offices, preparing for next week’s seminar, conducting training sessions, building new websites…and of course, reading and writing industry specific blogs!
Now this is interesting. Very rarely do you come across an article that talks about utilizing photos for SEO purposes to market your business online. Yet, Daily SEO Tip has just such an article up! Definitely holding on to this article for a while…
Examine the successful photoblogs on the Web. Why are there thousands of photoblogs that enjoy high rankings and even generate money in span of 8 months? The reason behind this is that even Google noticed the potential of photoblogs several years ago. So if you still doubt a photoblog’s capability of dominating a niche and generating realistic income, you can forget the idea of starting a photoblog. If you’re really passionate about the idea of photoblogging, though, I have some fresh SEO-photoblogging tips for you.
Keyword Research: Did You Dive Deep Enough? Small Business Search Marketing, Matt McGee’s other other blog, has a rather exciting story about the effect SEO can have on a website. In short – when Matt McGee and his wife went on vacation a few months ago, he blogged about it, and now his blog is in the top results for the resort he went to. It’s a really fascinating look at the importance of SEO for businesses of all types…definitely gives you that charge of knowing your SEO efforts are working.
What is your opinion about Groupon and other coupon sites? Have you used them extensively? Evolve Systems is hesitant to suggest them as marketing systems to clients…due in no smart part to articles like this on Get Elastic: Is Groupon’s Strategy off the Mark?
How about Tumblr? Do you follow any Tumblr blogs or use the Tumblr platform? While Evolve Systems’ preferred CMS, Amiro.CMS, has a built-in blogging module, often we are asked to set up WordPress blogs for companies and then integrate them into their existing website. So far, we haven’t done a whole lot of in-office work with Tumblr. Fast Company provides a good look at Tumblr and where it may be heading.
Lisa Barone shares a frustration many of us have experienced: dealing with SEO naysayers.
“Real business owners don’t have time for SEO…they’re too busy running a business!”
If you’re not investing in SEO, you’re not running your business. You’re wasting it. Small business owners have always been notoriously busy. But somehow they found time to be listed in the Yellow Pages, to sponsor little league teams, to create flyers to promote upcoming events. They found time because they had to in order to market themselves. Without these promotions, they were invisible to their community. SEO allows SMBs to be visible to a larger community and social media allows them to do it faster.
Creating a well-structured Web site, claiming your Google Place/Yelp/FourSquare listing, and using social media to hit the virtual streets have been vital in promoting a small business. To not have a Google Place Page in 2011 is like not appearing in the Yellow Pages 15 years ago. Studies show that 76 percent of consumers use search engines to find local content, 56 percent of social networkers look for social company pages, and those numbers are on the rise. If you’re not there, you’re not in the game. We can’t eat at restaurants we don’t know about, magician or not.
And finally, don’t forget that tomorrow is Free RPG Day! Inspired by the successful Free Comic Book Day, Free RPG Day takes place in tabletop games stores around the world. In this, its fifth year, twenty different publishers — including heavyweights like Fantasy Flight, Mayfair Games, Paizo, and Wizards of the Coast — have signed on to supply stores with free introductory products to give out to people who come in to play.
(But if you need me, I’ll be at home playing the Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker…finally getting around to beating it..)
Have a great weekend everyone!
