Technical Lead Developer

Evolve Systems is adding a Lead Developer to our team! This candidate will work with our Director of Operations, Sr Marketing Manager, Program Manager(s), Developer(s), Account Manager(s), Designer(s), Marketing team, CTO and our local and offshore development teams. Our Agency leverages open source (PHP) technologies, specifically WordPress, and we integrate and support e-commerce, custom software applications, and SaaS programs for a variety of different industries.  We are a fast-growing company looking for a dedicated development expert who can help us continue to expand our capabilities and deliver quality results for our clients.

Responsibilities 

  • Help lead and set the vision for the development department – including growth initiatives, scaling, management of vendor relationships, and exploring technology with the CTO and DOO that aligns with our business goals and ideal client needs
  • Help set and maintain operational and quality standards for the development department 
  • Taking part in various business activities like client communications, marketing and sales
  • Lead and execute on complex projects with the CTO
  • Sourcing and executing functionality needs based on a wide range of clients and industries
  • Create and execute development plans including revisions, as appropriate, to meet client needs and requirements
  • Develop and implement client-related initiatives based on fixed Statements of Work and special requests
  • Assist in managing the Help Desk and technical tickets from ongoing clients 
  • Assist in monitoring and reporting with monthly Website Maintenance Plans for clients 
  • Redefine client’s asset management, modules, themes, and receipt management

Requirements:

  • Preferred experience in WordPress development, WooCommerce, OpenCart, Big Commerce, and Ecwid
  • Able to solve complex problems
  • Experience in programming and development languages such as HTML, CSS, Javascript, and .PHP
  • Great documentation and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Back up files from Websites to local directories for recovery
  • Attention to detail during builds and QA process
  • Ability to lead clients through beta sites as well as talk to different recommendations and functionality needs
  • Identifying problems uncovered by customer feedback – testing, and correcting or referring problems to appropriate personnel for correction
  • Consistently delivers high-quality services and work to our clients
  • Understanding of search engine optimization (SEO) practices 
  • Ability to troubleshoot and optimize web pages for security and responsiveness
  • Understanding of network diagnostics and analytical tools
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment
  • Ability to evaluate and troubleshoot code to ensure it meets industry standards is valid, is properly structured, and is compatible with browsers, devices, or operating systems
  • Preferred if familiar with GDPR and ADA Compliance issues and solutions
  • Maintain databases and code to optimize end-use performance
  • On occasion, communicate with clients to answer technical questions that sales or the program manager needs assistance with
  • Alignment with agile project management method and team goals
  • Work on “Rocks” assigned and deliver on time

Communication:

  • Keeps program manager(s) & other leadership well informed of the status of development efforts
  • Leads client meetings for website beta reveals and/or website training
  • Leads technical conversations with clients when needed 
  • Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion (red, yellow, green light) to PMs and/or leadership 
  • Defines and estimates project scopes with the sales team to make recommendations for client and agency projects
  • Communicate industry trends to the tech team and PM
  • Works with teams to look for opportunities for growth across client partnerships and internal marketing
