Consider adding another layer to your social presence
Not long ago, many businesses thought it was sufficient to have a Facebook page and that was the extent of their social media presence. Two years later in 2006, Twitter came on the scene and stole some of the spotlight. Looking back now, ten years later things have changed immensely.
There is now a surplus of social media outlets that most businesses use to get the most out of social media marketing. Additions include Instagram, Snapchat, Vine, Pinterest, Reddit and Periscope. In today’s blog post we focus on the transformation Instagram and Snapchat have brought to the table for businesses.
Instagram is a portal to millennials
Instagram was created in 2010 and millennials favorite form of social media. Millennials began as young teens posting their school lunches and photos of themselves and friends enjoying group activities. Now in the business world they see new ways to use this form of social media for business communication. It is a way to display the best of whatever is going on in your world that day — a new product/concept that just launched or an exciting event your company is attending. For example, The Webby Awards posted videos on their Instagram announcing who the nominees for “the best of the Internet” are, and they also post awesome graphics.
Both amateur and professional designers and photographers use Instagram as a platform to display their work to gain awareness and possibly their next client. Many businesses are using an Instagram feed on their websites to showcase customers using their products – a very fun form of social proof or product testimonial.
Snapchat is proving not be a fad
The next rising social media giant is Snapchat, which again at its inception was thought of as a fad. Snapchat has transformed in so many ways and evolved into a tool is so much more than just a place to take pictures that will disappear in ten seconds or less. With the addition of geofilters, face filters, and stories Snapchat is a way to connect with people around you and get an inside scoop as to what is going on in someone’s world.
For major events and holidays, Snapchat will have a designated storyline so you can see how people around the globe are participating. If you are looking to target millennial women, Snapchat may be the platform for you to experiment with. As far as other ideas for using Snapchat for your business think about product releases, behind the scene looks at staff and product development, coupon and promotion sharing – just for starts.
We hope you found a few reasons to explore Instagram and Snapchat for your business.
