Brotherhood is a term often expressed by members of our armed forces. Veterans talk about the bond that’s formed when serving side by side. The camaraderie they develop extends across all branches of the military for both active duty and retired personnel. That bond is what TrustVets.com is looking to leverage in their new online directory that works to connect veteran-to-veteran in the business world.
Established in March of 2013, TrustVets.com is an online directory and networking resource for veteran professionals and owners in business.
Evolve Systems among the first to answer the call for online assistance
When CEO and founder Joe Johnson decided to create this online resource one of the first calls he made was to Evolve Systems President and Co-owner, Don Raleigh.
Don is a retired Army veteran having served 8+ years in active duty in a variety of roles including sentinel at the Tomb of the Unknowns, Presidential security guard to former President Reagan and providing military intelligence on the East German border. Don’s decision to participate in TrustVets was an easy one.
In a recent radio interview, Don stated that “Joe asked me ‘what are you doing to serve your fellow veterans?’ This site gave me to opportunity to connect with fellow veterans and get to know them on a more personal level. ” You can listen to the entire interview on the Minnesota Military Radio Hour.
The veteran-to-veteran connection
The website is designed as a directory of business professionals and business owners who share the common bond of military service. The idea is to drive business to these members from other veterans as well as the general public. As Don puts it “I prefer to find veterans to hire because of their moral integrity. If I have a choice, I’ll choose a Vet every time.”
Don states that this site has already been a great asset for his company, Evolve Systems. To date Don has hired several veteran-owned businesses through this connection.
A nationwide resource
TrustVets.com got its start right here in Minnesota but in less than a year has already expanded to Idaho and Oregon. Their goal is to expand to every state in the U.S. The site currently lists business in 45 different industries and they’ve registered over 60 members. In addition to their online directory they offer local networking events for members and the business community. Whether veterans are looking to start a business or find a job when they retire from active duty this site gives them a great place to connect. As their motto says “Trust Vets. They’ve earned it.”
We’d like to add, Happy 1 Year Anniversary Trust Vets – you’ve earned it!
