Yup, you heard it here first. Our web development team is crazy. Crazy busy creating awesome new websites for our clients. Crazy for WordPress. And crazy about these important plugins. They took a few minutes to interrupt being crazy busy and share their list of favorite plugins that you will want to make sure you have installed on your WordPress website.
Wordfence Security: This security plugin scans your site looking for malicious files, malware, modified core files and updates. This plugin helps protect your site from dangerous files being injected and helps prevent other files from producing spam. Not only does this plugin secure your site, but it also improves website load times.
Brute Force Login Protection: A brute force attack is a method to gain access to your site by trying usernames and passwords over and over until it gets in. This security plugin tracks hacking attempts on the site and blocks the hacker’s IP addresses from accessing the site. It uses simple features like limits to the number of allowed login attempts, delaying access after a failed login attempt, and emailing the administrator when an IP has been blocked.
UpdraftPlus – Backup/Restore: This backup tool that allows the entire site to be backed up easily and then restored with two clicks. This plugin is great for anyone attempting to update plugins, make large modifications to their site. It’s also a wise step in site maintenance. You can create complete backups of your site, either on demand or scheduled, and save the backup to any number of locations such as Dropbox, Google Drive, Rackspace, FTP, email and more.
Disable Comments: WordPress already allows you to disable comments on individual blog posts. This simple plugin goes a step further, allowing you to turn off comments in specific areas like posts, pages, and attachments or across your entire website. We like this plugin for preventing spam.
Contact Form DB: This super useful plugin provides backup for most form systems in WordPress saving the submitted form data to the database. Then the data can be exported to a file. This backup tool ensures form submissions are not missed when emails are blocked or marked as spam. The plugin even offers an advanced search feature.
Website security, spam prevention, proper backup, and data capture in five easy to use plugins. Yes, our web development team is crazy. They are crazy good at what they do. Thanks for the list, guys.
