Our customers are diverse in size, industry and reach so their business needs vary greatly. We at Evolve Systems are used to creating custom solutions to meet those needs whether it involves website development, online marketing or custom merchant services programs. But this one request would prove to be one of the biggest challenges our team has faced to date.
We love a good challenge that tests our metal and this one did just that.
A new software program to address an old issue
Our client was looking to build a proprietary software that would address an ongoing problem in the business and insurance industry: valuing the contents of a business or building to ensure accurate coverage. This software needed to be built from the ground up with the ability to value and track assets for companies. It needed to incorporate the use of a tablet to take pictures, catalog the assets and build a portfolio.
The software also had to serve as the platform for third party assignment of value to assets, provide comprehensive reporting proof for audits and enable the replacement values to be adjusted annually based on the CPI Index. The final challenge was to build a software program with both the depth of complexity to meet the demands of the environment but with enough simplicity in the user interface to make it marketable.
A patent is born
Over the course of several months the software program took shape and developed into a robust tool that met all of the requirements and exceeded our client’s expectations. Contents Control Corporation filed for a patent which is currently pending for this cutting edge proprietary software program that has the potential to revolutionize the insurance industry. Evolve Systems is excited and honored to report that Don Raleigh, co-owner and project lead, will be listed on that patent as one of the inventors.
A happy ending with a new beginning
This story has a happy ending because we met the challenge, the client is thrilled and we had a bunch of fun in the process. And the software program that we developed helped to launch a new business for our client. What could be better?
Better for us would be more; more opportunity to partner with great clients, more opportunity to rise to a really good challenge and more opportunity to build really cool stuff. We are excited about what the future holds and where our next client project will lead.
