It is absolutely vital that you are backing up your website and downloading the backup to a local server, hard drive or even flash drive. We have advanced server backup systems in place but that doesn’t negate the need for you to have a local backup. In the event of a catastrophe we can take your local backup and apply it to our software platform to bring your website back online immediately.
When should I back up my site? Create and download a full backup of your site at least once a month. Be sure you also back up your site before and after you update the content on your site. Whenever the software is upgraded we send out a notice via our email newsletter (sign up here), asking that you back up your site both before and after the upgrade. It’s important that you create the back up before in the unlucky occurrence that something goes wrong during the upgrade, but it’s equally important that you create a back up after the upgrade, because you may not be able to apply back ups created using previous software versions.
What if I can’t remember to make regular backups? We’re here to help! We offer a monthly website maintenance plan contract, and part of that plan is that we manually create and download a backup of your site to a completely separate server, providing the off-site security needed.
